Extrait et thème de l’ouvrage

It would be incorrect to assume that death in the mind of Muhammad always had the same sense as it had among the christians of his environment. In the Qur’an he combines and reworks materials from many sources into an original message suited to his purposes and to the needs of his people as he saw them. Terms from christian theology abound in it but often in new or modified meanings - "holy spirit" or "spirit", for example, or "word" as applied to Jesus.
