Presentation

An international group of twenty-one friends and colleagues join together to explore authors, genres and traditions of the Muslim world reflecting and honouring the contribution of Claude Gilliot to Islamic studies.

Claude Gilliot

Claude GILLIOT, dominicain, est Professeur émérite d’études arabes et d’islamologie à l’Université de Provence.

Claude Gilliot est né le 6 janvier 1940 à Guemps (Pas de Calais). Agrégé d’arabe (1979), il est titulaire d’un doctorat d’état (ancien régime) intitulé : « Aspects de l’imaginaire islamique commun dans le Commentaire de Tabari » soutenu en 1987. Il est l’auteur de très nombreux articles sur l’exégèse coranique et la théologie musulmane de l’époque "classique".
